Importance of Staying Active This Winter

Being physically active can improve your brain health, help manage weight, reduce the risk of disease, strengthen bones and muscles, and improve your ability to do everyday activities. Adults who sit less and do any amount of moderate-to-vigorous physical activity gain some health benefits. These benefits include, helping you feel better, improve your balance, lower your risk of type 2 diabetes, strengthen bones and muscles, lower blood pressure, maintain or lose weight, and keep your mind sharp as you get older.

As winter approaches and the evenings draw in it’s harder to stay active and much more appealing to curl up in a comfy blanket with a book or a film and whereas rest is absolutely essential for physical and mental well-being, staying active is equally important. 

Boost your immune system

As winter’s grip tightens on all of us, bugs and viruses become common place and do the rounds, only a few escape without being hit by the common cold or flu. Doing exercise will not only help you fight off any symptoms of a cold or flu but reduce the likelihood of you even being affected. Now that’s something to keep our motivation up right?
